Just finished this jewellery box in West Australian Sheoak with Queensland Cedar lid. Handle is my favourite Huon pine, feature panel is New Guinea Rosewood burl and the legs are turned from Tasmanian Myrtle. I love refining the designs of these hingeless boxes, problem is I'm already thinking of the next incarnation before I'm finished the one I'm working on.

Excellent. Congrats on your DD.

His website's offline at the moment, but I think you might like Wild Willy Barrett's woodwork

Very beautiful and classy. I can see it in a fantasy setting.

This is truly beautiful. Any particular influence for this piece? :)

The front design is based on an Art Nouveau border stencil and the little lifting tabs were spotted on a picture of a piece of furniture as part of a larger decoration. Both my wife and I love Art Nouveau and Deco so when I wanted to try my hand at wood carving I just decided to modify a box I was currently working on.

I'm not a huge fan of Art Deco. Or so I say! But it seems like every so often something catches my eye :)

Regardless, it's a wonderful piece.

Oops, just realised I described the wrong box. You're right, This one is a combination of Art Deco and Japanese simplicity. I'm glad you like it.
